Rumi’s seeds – Gratitude

A gift box of apples, lemons and a jar of ?!
Roses from our garden are nice
But so is this single California Poppy that has the power to propagate and spread a blanket over the whole garden… turning the earth into a sea of bright orange !

All from our gardens – we must sow our seeds on this shared earth. Rumi is a master at sowing the seeds … where flowers will bloom if one is willing to toil the soil to make it fertile … It’s work. It’s good. Namaste.

August 15th is actually my late father’s 命日”Meinichi” or a anniversary date of his passing. It’s also a day marking the End of War (our last “world war” – not the latest regional wars)

A side note: Super interesting site directed to Japanese Middle Schoolers but anyone can benefit is THIS:), where there is an article that it’s only in Japan August 15th is officially recognized as end of WWII and start of peacetime whereas rest of the world celebrates a slightly different date.

Relief Nowhere in sight?

“Practice patience; it is the essence of praise. Have patience, for that is true worship. No other worship is worth as much. Have patience; patience is the key to all relief.”

Think again …

While not as beautiful to our ears as an ancient Persian poem, there’s the Japanese short terse proverb – “Even on a stone, sit on it for 3 years” – Who sits on a stone for 3 years anyway – really, who does that? (actually Yogis do!)

It means even a stone, natually cold, after sitting on it for 3 years will be warm … patience, it preaches in a short terse – is such a virtue we must cultivate – I’m just ‘SAYING’.
