Gratitude

It’s getting chilly these days … Yet, a friend drove over this evening with a big platter of Halloween rice crispy squares- they are golden! and Mochi squares in Halloween cups she baked- sooo decadent. So yummy!

Oh my – thank you for the treat. Unexpected acts of kindness is so sweet. This is someone I want to be more like – she doesn’t ask – she just does it. She’s always first to help. First to take action. First to listen and console.

Her kindness reminded me of another beautiful soul who brought a whole weeks’ of suppers/dinners 10 years ago when I was wiped out. She didn’t permit me to ask for help. She didn’t ask. She didn’t ask if I needed help as so many of us deny ourselves the very thing we need – help… help? Maybe don’t know how to show our vulnerability. She didn’t ask what she can do or how she may help. She didnt’s say, I am here if you need any help. Or what can I do to help? There were no words she spoke. She acted. She just acted. She knew. She knew unspoken words speak volumes. She knew maybe what I didn’t know back then in my younger foolish days.

Instead, she just came with a big smile, joked and made me laugh – literally in stitches – and offered loads of home made foods for the whole family … She’s a master chef … my cup runneth over. I cannot return the favor directly so I try to do the same for others … especially now that she’s moved far away to a place where I cannot just drive over – sob- nor simply reciprocate the same manner.

I have so many good examples of humans I emulate. One has to be in the receiver side and suffer a bit to awaken to this consciousness, this awareness that … we are all vulnerable and that’s okay. And to perhaps really appreciate the magnitude of any kind of kindness bestowed upon you, we have to accept our vulnerability. It’s a humbling experience but then … humility is what we need more of in this world. We don’t have answers to everything. We don’t know …. We are a mere human and we all trip up. Sometimes we get sick, or we have an accident and surely, we all make mistakes. Life is full of curve balls and we are prone to make mistakes, even the brilliant ones. One would think we can be … humble given all our imperfections. And know that’s a blessing – that’s when we see the true beauty that we were blind to before.

I try to do the same to be a person of action more than words like these exceptional women … but my friends top me always – indebted to the kind warm hearted as those are the ones to inherit this Universe. Or at least win this little heart of mine.

“What goes around Comes around” – per this friend. It’s a circle – goodness comes back – the opposite is as true. It’s a big boomerang of our vibes:)

Thank you! oxox
