Yoga Mat Care

Had this Manduka re-salted to see if the non-skid quality would improve. The hot sweaty season is coming and nothing is as unpleasant as smell of sweaty mats unrolled upon being rolled up untended stored and transported in super heated car trunks. Our olfactory is such great part of our yogic experience so recommend routine mat care …

As for just cleaning, salt and hose. Or here’s a nice formula to mix in a spray bottle:

1/2 c witch hazel

1/4 c vodka or alcohol

Few drops Tea Tree essential oil

Optional- other oils can be added-

For example

– grapefruit lemon or lime

for the energizing citrus scents*

– Clove Rosemary Cypress Eucalyptus

For clarity, select forestry scents

– lavender- rose – geranium

For that relaxing dreamy scents

But if you are the practical kind, just …alcohol to eliminate germs bacteria growth. Would check the manufacturer care instructions to see if alcohol spray does not fade any designs if any. A wipe with water wet towel might be needed. I have also used baby wipes !

* btw per a Japanese scientists it’s been shown that inhaling grapefruit scents actually helps with weight reduction – really? Nice!

“Straw Wars”

All those plastic straws invariably end up in landfills and ocean waters … harming our whales and sea turtles among many many more – sadly polluting the marine ecosystem. So doing a little part by using fewer straws and plastics – been drinking without straws but THESE are perfect!

Nice gift item from a very conscious Silicon Valley company. No they are not chopsticks in Ohashi bag – nor a flute … 2 sizes of straws and bristle brush cleaner even … so one can carry them around and reuse these straws over and over – for those warm weather tapioca boba drinks and smoothies:)

Earth Day

A day before Earth Day on Easter Sunday we celebrated by volunteering at a San Francisco Beach Cleanup. It feels good to do our part by putting in some time and labor for a wonderful NPO called Surfrider.

The littering of our beaches is disheartening- but to counter the ills we caused, picking up cigarette buds, wrappers of all kinds, plastics …

Volunteers sort the collected trash from the beach into various bags for disposal … they are such amazing crew, dedicating the Sunday morning to cleanup and preserve the beauty of the coastal beaches.

Provided with orange pails rubber gloves, we are off to wonder the beach for upwards of 2 hours … after our work, the beach overlooking the Pacific Ocean is again free of pollutants.

Brunch reward after 2 hours of beach cleanup 🙂

My screenshot from few days ago ! So happy to RISE to the task and make Earth Day truly meaningful … Inhaling lots of Enthusiasm 🙂
