Any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Love to hear from you and answer any questions you may have to quell any concerns ! Stay connected virtually or for real in person – they are all good. Any way, any path, any means – it’s all good at times like this. We can still be connected over time, space and distance. Remote or in your face, lol, I have so many ideas! There’s so much to hope for. Anything is possible if there’s a will.

Practicing in a group is so meaningful … feeling so wistful … miss it!

Let’s support our local small businesses and gig workers, let’s all support and celebrate them while minimizing and negating any risks. We are asked to do our part in flattening the “curve” to fight this faceless enemy to our existential existence and life as we know it we took so for granted. Small businesses in our neighborhood, put in their heart and soul into their work, with their passion and hard work, they made our community a better place – more vibrant, more personable, more … friendly. Let’s try to support them and each other, in our own way as much as possible. From the bottom of my heart, I pray for peace and return to normalcy. This is when we realize the everyday ordinary stuff we thought as a given, a god-given human right, was actually a gift and a blessing… a miracle or sorts. We still have them – I believe we still have many blessings in disguise. In the spirit of Ahimsa, Namaste.

Keep Calm

in midst of the confusions – try to hear truth not fake news, rumors and fear mongers. That doesn’t mean one should not prepare or plan well or live in a bubble, escape to the wilderness … because no matter how strong the protective gear, if you are run down on the inside with fear, anger and fatigue, no amount of face masks and gloves and distance are going to protect you & especially … Reminded

Fear is the cheapest room in the house.

I would like to see you living in better conditions. – Hafez

And realizing why Yoga is powerful in this current situation. If you are experiencing colds/flu symptoms then, this is the time to really listen to your body and stay home and allow yourselves to strengthen in the comforts of your home. Hot Tea; Ginger & Lemons; Honey … Juice juice juice soup soup soup. Perhaps support local yoga teachers who are creative, resourceful and passionate who offers their energy via Zoom, good old fashion phone, socially distanced private sessions (outdoors or in well ventilated open window rooms with ample personal space). Personally, I don’t offer the above options, but to local friends, I am able to deliver a roll of toilet paper and a box of tissues AND power boost foods and green smoothies.

We are reverting back down to … chakra 1 … and it’s instinctive. No judgement as it’s perfectly natural – we are human. Let’s just try our very best to commit to Self-Care at home or in a safe place that’s like “home” to you; so if need be, we may better take care of those more vulnerable. If you are a caretaker of others, you probably cannot live your life dangerously because more depend on you and need additional considerations about your role, perhaps stay home if you are in the least bit not feeling yourself in the interest of safety for Self and Everybody else you put at risk. Exercise social distance (min. 3.5 ft or 1 meters or more) when placed in a group situations. No handshakes; no hugs and kisses unless you are 100% sure – like your homeschool-ed child or your family members you know where they’ve been. Check the WHO and CDC guideline often (as the matter is fluid and changing day to day) and act accordingly.

Even if you feel GREAT, there are others who are not so much – it’s no time to ignore your natural instincts and intuitions. Thank you for looking out for the community as a whole.

BTW, no worries, I feel GREAT but I do need to attend to those who don’t. Thank you for your understanding, your empathy, your love.

DIY hand sanitizer gels & spray

If you’ve ever been with me making yoga mat cleaner sprays or aromatherapy room vs. facial sprays、these are just more of the same idea …but serving a different purpose to keep us well protected and healthy while ultimately, nothing beats proper hand washing.  It’s all good.

But when caught in places and situations when there’s no running water nor soap what are we to do?

Scarcity and Necessity, Mother of Invention? How about anti-viral, anti-bacterial sanitizer:)

No I am not drinking the Vodka (80 proof so only 40% alcohol) for this project is a little low BUT there are Vodkas out there at 60% and more which clears the minimum.  For spray version, just mixing with 20% witch hazel water and bit of hydrogen peroxide, it’s maybe not WHO version but acceptable by most standards.

Here are some items picked up at Trader Joes and Walgreens … the face toner, once 3/4 used, you can pour the 70% alcohol for quick hand sanitizer.  If you want to make the jell, but don’t have the compact dispenser then their hyaluronic moisture boost serum at 30 ml, also once 1/2 used, pour in the 90+% alcohol and few drops of antibacterial essential oils… you have a “Purell”-ish hand sanitizer.

Easy Hand Sanitizer:

1 cup of isopropyl alcohol (90% min &+ flammable so be careful)

1/8 c hydrogen peroxide

1/2 cup aloe vera gel

15-18 drops of tea tree oil or lemongrass

Mix well and dispense into sanitized mini-lotion dispensers you can carry around.

*******************************************

What if … you cannot find alcohol on store shelves? My aromatherapy teacher used Vodka … most Vodka is at 40% not potent enough for this intended use but there are some out there clears the threshold of 60% alcohol content and that makes for a good substitute. At that point, there’s no dilution needed but just add on the essential oils to add a better sense while getting the antibacterial effect. Here’s the actual How-To by WHO but this is institutional amount and way too much (10 mls !) for most private citizens. So do some math and reduce the recipe amount by 1/20th …) Remember to sterilize everything used in preparing and storing these potions and sprays – and always coming back to … washing your hands well before getting started:)

Note on Alcohol: I always thought of course 90% is better than 70% but according to this, not necessarily !
