Spring

Noticing the bloom

Sakura – Cherry Blossoms are starting to flower

Time to celebrate 🙂  Birthdays …Thank you for the homemade fruit tart – Beautiful design of fruits celebrating the abundance of colors and fresh flavors.

Tulip blooming

Sakura Mochi for coming of Spring …

This is Starbucks Tokyo window this March … just to look at to get ideas is enough for me.

& time to reconnect with friends we miss.  Indulging, making exceptions to the usual no sugar diet … and oddly? no weight gain ?  It’s about the metabolism and portion control when you are yoga-ing more and more.

Spring Yin Yoga – focus on cleansing and renewal – Element is Wood – Internal Organs to stimulate and care are Liver and Gallbladders – the rivers within you are no longer stagnant, taking the time to practice the sequence designed to awaken and renew.

Spring is Here.

To think Anthony Bourdain loved this place …

Tsukiji was once the world’s largest wholesale fish market.  Today, it’s a shell of what it once was (as the heart and soul of the auction trade has moved to the ultra modern Toyosu location to which I have yet to visit)  but the spirit lives on. I remember when I was in college, we were visiting as tourists – okay, guess I am still a tourist, an outsider here  – so back then, would come 4am thinking it’s early enough to find out we were too late to witness the true heat, the action – by 4am the auction commerce was already over, the business was winding down.  Most of these stores close around 1pm if not earlier so … these stalls are now all for tourists not for the real dealers and buyers in the food service industry.c

Are the vegan readers all swooning just about now?

Sayonara Tokyo

Here’s my last meal in Japan @ Haneda Airport in Tokyo. This is why I’m not vegan but pescatarian. Yet sushi is a delicacy enjoyed only few times a year – rest of the time adhering loosely to plant based diet.

With much gratitude for nourishment to live on within me – appreciation of all that pranic energy and efforts that went into this dish, to make this pre-flight meal possible… the fisherman, the transport, rice farmers, ceramic producers, green tea producers and purveyors and … the sushi chef.
