Homework & more homework

There are variety of reasons yogis may enter into this training; for many it’s to strive to become a better person; for others, especially in this program, it might be a little different. Realizing that those who claim to be a “healer” might have a bit of ego-issue. That ego to self-proclaim “healer” who there are many, we were asked to let go of day one …I gladly prescribe to that role of a humble servant, while we brew our remedy soups and polish our chakra crystals – lol :

I think as with all learning we come for our own purpose, to heal ourselves. Wholeness as a human being has to occur to us before we can ask it of others. The beauty of this offering is that it is truly completing the circle.

Span of one day …

A day in the life of …IMG_0110_smallIMG_0148_smallThat state of being to be at peace; with no regrets; full of gratitude for this life filled with love – THAT you want to carry to the next world.IMG_0149_smallIMG_0162_small Paramhansa Yogananda !? Spotted a yogi on the right who was a splitting image of Yogananda … unreal. So I thought from sleep deprivation but … real. It’s all real.IMG_0178_smallIt was a strange magical day to come upon this festival by pure chance… my jet lag mind-fog lifted with free yoga on the lawn.In gratitude.IMG_0431_smallBreathing in the chilly air provided by the forest, growing a tree of my own… focusing helps with balance, yes? IMG_9884_smallAsked for photos of me in yoga poses … ehhh, so going through our digital photo albums. Seems like hundreds of photos from various workshops, immersions, intensives/training over the years but of me? Hah?! A few from last year’s trip to Vancouver. It’s not a photo shoot; just taken by the arch to the Moon Pavilion thinking as an interesting contrast to the architecture… Ironically, very little photos of me in yoga poses – guess no one can accuse me of vanity. In days of selfies all around us, to me, yoga pose has been more an organic, perhaps a personal thing. Each pose sort of “grows” on you. Love

Trees for balance, focus.
Triangles for strength, stability.
Warriors …for strength, done – dynamically …agility.
Restorative helps with Pratyahara so you can do all the above and more.
Anything that makes you feel alive and well ! Saluting the goodness all around us.

You are not feeling yourself? Even if you are not a mother, knowing the following can help you be a little bit more empathetic … kind. If you are not a mother yourself, you definitely have one. And all of us sometimes experience this “funk” and it’s interesting … notes to self with relevance when I see young mothers trying so hard.

Post “Mother’s Day” info sharing – Did you know:

On average, a mom’s brain shrinks 5% in the prenatal period, as it supports the growth of the baby (much of the brain is fat) and is re-engineered for parenthood.

– Oscar Serrallach, M.D.

IMG_2853As we celebrated Mothers Day and seeing so many moms hard at work at gyms … wondered what is really “wellness”? There’s that endorphin rush we all need sometimes to get by … What does it take to feel fully alive and well?

A mother bolted out of the studio last night and … I felt complete respect for her. Having done the same myself on couple of occasions, funny, I even felt a sense of closer connection … Bolting probably would not be the right way to describe her action – she politely and graciously took leave might describe it better … hope she feels AMAZING after any self-care she devotes herself to. Sometimes you want and need a lot of movements to take your mind off and from fatigue, almost pass out, allowing yourself finally that guilt free moment to let go. Letting go of all that control, all that holding – that relentless effort of holding it all together at any cost … but sometimes, it’s a more natural progression of gradual unfolding … It is a shame that there’s not enough support support and support for moms to let go the anxieties and instead “optimize” her own time merely to do … nothing, outwardly, absolutely NOTHING without feelings of guilt. Nothing is something.

Here’s an article every mom (and dad) should read … Click here.

IMG_0904Rest & Digest time for this child and adults; gestation time for expectant moms – a sweet quiet practice.
sm_IMG_6419We are blessed. When moms are agitated, so are the kids. When moms are run down, she may lose sight of what’s really beneficial – sometimes one might crave the quiet time where noone is particularly required to (forced to) practice, nap (not sleeping here – half wakeful float – dreaming), play, read or eat. We stuff ourselves so much – overloaded, sometimes, we need to empty to take in more the nourishment not junk.

A bit of Pratyahara to regain mastery over the senses after withdrawing the senses … makes sense?

Living in greater self-awareness. Just be.
