Healing Arts taught by Scientists & Artists

One of many Chanti’s works I love:

Few from her portfolio so vast, more of her works should be published !!!

Last thing I did for my own nourishment was … yoga? Yes, what’s known as Omni Vayu Salutation (not sun salutation but Vayu – the wind!) led by a beautiful friend AND then, what a treat!!! Yantra painting with Chanti Tacoronte-Perez (she is so talented it’s free hand intricate coloring requiring focus and ease…) visiting the Bay Area and even that, sadly only able to join for few hours for the weekend retreat that started Friday night (missed); then Saturday (missed); then Sunday? A little respite, time for self-care and recharged, off I go to recharge others. It’s all good though as I got the Yantra painted (because Chanti had done most of the hard part already for me). Looking at this yantra painting brings me back to the calm and tranquil space – reminds me of that meditative energy – of focus and clearing I can transmit to others. Engaging in art or creating anything beautiful can be so … yogic.

And onto this weekend …Berkeley, my home away from home …Now it’s more about the science and medicinal effects of yoga:

Flexibility & Subbing

New Moon tonight !
Time to let go, cleanse and purify – So that seeding can take roots on well-tilled soil bed …fertile and rich.

yogaheartSome say that yoga is about flexibility; some say it’s about the breath; another would say, it’s about the spine. Or it’s about strengthening the muscles or the internal organs…or …it’s about stilling the body and the mind, so the practice of meditation finds you … It’s about all the above and more.

When we think flexibility, it’s not just in a physical sense but mental as our mind and body are … interconnected. It’s about being really open and willing to see the good in something new or different. To not be closed minded… just open and generous. It’s actually about being brave because you are open to adventures, the unexpected. I say this because … I was that rigid and dogmatic person who might have made a U-turn if I noticed that a substitute teacher was filling in for my regular teacher; but today, sometimes when I have a sub, I am thankful that (1) the class was not cancelled; (2) open and willing to see how this substitute teacher will share her knowledge. Well or poorly? It’s an entertainment or another opportunity for self-study.

Different instructions and packaging of them are appreciated whether to my taste or not knowing it’s just a temporary thing – it not always be the same. While I said repetition is very good for the neural pathways to make the sweet grooves in good healing pattern; the departure from the regularity sometimes can also serve a purpose – it may even be good – because? Yes, while routine and regularity is a must, sometimes a little surprise is good for the brains. We don’t want that always as that would really mess up our nervous system but just a little sweet kind of surprises, you know … like a surprise treat or an outing…the unexpected but still feel safe and secure.

Having said that, I responded to an emergency sub request for my cohort. Not a clone, I never go in with the mindset of comparison or being better or the same – none of that judgement thing. Judgement is placed off the mat. Students also practiced REAL flexibility of being open and willing – thus, they walked out smiling.
Feel the positive VIBE they created for themselves by being open and receptive. Not freaking out over little things. Really, in the scheme of things, we can be more and more open and receptive to the abundance all around us. Which to me, is the loveliest of the teachings.
Yes, the smile barometer is the best assessment for this Empath. When you feel better, I feel better too. Thanks for the opportunity to serve. Namaste.

IMG_0621Accupressure points on our ear lobe taught by this teacher from Japan – Believe it or not it works but worrisome that they may drop into you know where and … hurt the ear drum. So I have an yogic idea to share. BTW, I had these tiny shiny dots on for days… sad to part with them as they sparkled like fairy dust. Dusted with fairy dust of an amulet, we are protected.

yinyangnihongo I can read them and explain for you. Eastern philosophy (note – this is not religion) is very useful in all aspects of our lives and …fascinating !
