8 limbs of yoga … seven out of eight

Speaking of prayers, I pray that a past and present student/teacher who suffers from any discomforts and pain may find comfort and regain the strength and ease to continue the practice of yoga with or without me.  If not through 1/8, Asana (the physical striking of poses and vinyasa movements) practice, 7/8 aspects of yoga can serve in immeasurable ways to help one regain one’s optimal health. Seek medical advice, seek other methods, such as acupuncture, physical therapy, float, heat, massage, chiropractic – any alternative and establishment’s professional help. After all that please be curious about this famous quote from BKS Iyengar:

“Yoga teaches us

to cure what need not be endured

and endure what cannot be cured.”

Then reaffirm in some way that we all have that healer within us.  Our true nature is to heal and to … strike a pose?  No, actually, how about to strike a chord that rings beautifully because it’s the truth – that we all have that light, that inner knowing to follow our natural path towards homeostasis. To wholeness.  Listening to one’s body, finding that kind loving ways for self-care and self-discovery.  That grace. We all have.

I hope to guide and be guided by the other 7/8 of what yoga is all about.

Ultimately yoga is about …

Yogas chitta vritti nirodhah

Tada drastuh svarupe vasthanam.

“Yoga is stilling the fluctuations of the mind.

Then one abides in their own true nature.”

-Yoga Sutra of Patanjali

Why am I here?

“Spiritual” dining??? and “religious” nightlife ??? What?!!!

Smoke was seen coming out from rooftop earlier…Coming from California, had no appreciation for such fire and smoke display.  Made my stomach turn actually.

Not his fan or anything and did not eat here but I recall the quote my yoga teacher used that was apparently his.  Per this teacher, he told one chef that her/his cooking was too complicated to cover her/his insecurities, inadequacies – to compensate for the lack of confidence, there’s just too much was Ramsey’s message.  That can be applied to many situations and people.  In the case of yoga teaching, simple and accessible is best was my teacher’s point – no need to use Sanskrit or fancy anatomy jargon to teach to be authentic. Her words came back to me as we stepped into check this place out – a t-shirt that reads – go to hell – would not do well in my world.  Besides, it’s just not …me.  We laughed. Anyway, Hell’s Kitchen was buzzing and hot.  So much so that we had to stop by the Four Faced Buddha there to find peace.

So wanted to see Yayoi Kusama’s exhibit but the show does not start until 17th … just missed it.

Looked for a yoga studio that’s accessible but all I found was … Soul Cycle.  Apparently there’s a studio called Sin City Yoga – SOOO would have loved to take a class there but … as a typical as my recent theme goes, I ran out of … time.

I felt a bit in an alternative fake universe here.
