Gather the Nectar to Sweeten Our Lives:)

Came across this:

Spend your time with those who love you unconditionally, don’t wast it on those who love only when the conditions are right for them.

Crazy stormy weather with roads flooded, felt as though we were risking our lives getting to a retreat. Yet, after the thrilling ride, once there, I spent the most invigorating and at the same time peaceful time, just looking over the Sunday paper, a little hiking in gusts of hauling wind and the downpour, getting drenched and … getting nourished.

I saw a certain flyer on the bulletin board that set off series of thoughts… I was pleasantly reminded of a jar of honey given to me by a couple who were students at a hatha yoga class I once taught. This is awhile back when I was surprised and touched by this unexpected gift of golden gooy substance. I was pleased to hear that they harvested the honey themselves – which meant that the golden nectar came from flower blossoms in this couple’s environs … of all places … Palo Alto. Isn’t it amazing – nature’s gift right in your backyard!

My late father in his youth had to spend some time in the mountains recuperating from tuberculosis back in the day when people actually died from tuberculosis. He said he had nothing to do – and so – he kept bees and harvested honey. This was apparently a certain time in his early twenties – he then goes on to become well respected in his field of business, not at all related to beekeeping but something completely different. Yet I have to rethink … maybe not so different after all.

One of those item on the bucket list I wouldn’t mind learning about, that is, how to gather the nectar to sweeten our lives. Here’s the HOW TO:)

What’s a “bee-centric” approach ? I am so curious. Certain to incorporate into my daily practice of risking the stings to gather some sweetness. I am currently all about slowing down to savor the sweetness of this moment. to the next moment. then next … Do string them along, swirl them together into eternity.

Some New Delights @ Rumi’s

Being Human

This being human is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.

A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.

Welcome and entertain them all
even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of its furniture.

Still treat each guest honourably,
he may be clearing you out
for some new delight.

The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.

Be grateful for whoever comes,
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.

SFO in December

A lot of comings and goings this year but we are staying put this holiday season for a reason. img_6926
Holiday party with fellow yoga teachers … feeling inspired. Lorraine in the center looking like a golden angel just came back from India/Nepal trip and I am so impressed with her adventurous independent spirit – my intention this year to follow her lead and be more fearless and more out of this head – to balance out the need to be responsible while being …carefree; Renee, the other beauty amazes me – she’s brimming with ENERGY. In fact, they both are brimming with love and light, so much that, through their energy conduction, I am resuscitated and re-charged!

so decided to cover for another lovely yoga teacher’s class – everyone needs to take vacations so they can refresh and come back a better teacher, right?
Subbing with no other intention but to cover while she’s off to refresh and restore.
tomorrow at 9:30am @ Bay Club
Told any style of yoga so may I share Gentle Vinyasa Flow with a twist?
Hope so as that’s my regular morning practice:)
May we cover each other with respect, keeping friendship and camaraderie in mind.
