Curry Rolls – Bakery Heaven

A miracle that I did not gain any weight visiting these bakeries in Tokyo – thanking the no-car life with lots of yoga… Nevertheless, I am back on “spring detox” cleanse next week on mostly plant based protein intake. Sayonara Japanese breads, the biggest temptations there – it was not sushi…rather, it’s all the rolls, pastries, cakes, breads – “kashi-pan” plain as in “melon-pan” or filled with jam, custard creams, chocolate puddings, bean pastes, savory and sweet … they are the biggest temptations.
The much loved import from India for decades must be flavor of curry. Here in Japan. You find it of course on rice, even in udon noodles but most loved baked into bread. 3-5 varieties at this bakery near banks of Sumida river.

Lost in Translation – NOT?

candle-lightHere’s a post titled “Reiki – what it is?” from last week.
It occured to me that I forgot to translate Dr. Mikao Usui’s quote. A little bit edited for less awkwardness common in straight translations …

Here it is:

Body and Spirit enhanced through Usui Reiki teachings …
Here’s a secret method I share
Here’s a spiritual medicine against all disease

Do not be angry today
Do not worry today
Rather hold gratitude in our hearts today and always
Work hard and be kind to others
Gassho (Anjeli/Prayer mudra) every morning and evening
Etch this in our hearts and
Sing this chant …(of health in body and spirit, “Reiki”)

To me, Reiki is loving tenderness, an energy transfer work rendered and directed by another to the suffering; while to me, YOGA is about empowerment; about self-care where you render that healing towards your own Self not dependent, not reliant on others. Not reliant on any other energizing or soothing dependencies but one’s own innate wisdom (once awakened to) regulate and find natural balance. It’s about self-discovery of our own body map so that we can have a smoother efficient journey riding through the ups and downs of our own terrain – living a more joyful life with grace. Gracefully yours – Namaste:)

Thank you to student

Ah … for me?
I am lucky to be blessed with students I have much to learn from in terms of kindness and generosity. The lovely Ms. M always knits these yoga socks I can’t live without these chilly mornings (lets the toes and heels be free- kind) and then …  Here’s another example.   (Once upon a time:) After one yoga class, a lovely (cute) lady comes up and says “I have something I want to give you.”

Then gives me this cute little button of a flower … ? What is it?

Pomogranate or Beets juice? What!!!?? A handmade lipgloss made from only natural ingredients, colors from plant juice – nothing artificial.  She tells me she makes all the soaps, lotions etc for the family and does not buy any cosmetics because she makes them. What !???  I am so impressed.   Here’s to true ageless nature girl:)

Spring is in the air – cannot wait to try this sweet scented color from such a sweet being.  Namaste.  oxox
