“GOING HOME” framed…

I shared the story of how I finally framed Amaey’s painting acquired from Kids & Art fundraiser awhile ago. I hadn’t posted the actual final framed painting because my limited photography skill does not seem to capture what I see – what is it that I see that the everyday camera does not capture? It’s a soft shroud of light, there’s sort of what you might call an aura about this painting. The frame I found was wood with golden wash of paint … simple, elegant and … golden to bring out the colors of the painting:

IMG_1445See what I mean – whenever I hold the camera in front where it hangs, there’s always a reflection … here you see the white dotted lights I have no idea where they came from … so I took it down to see how I may take a better photo of it and here comes my helper …woof, woof.

It hangs in a room with much foot traffic, as it is a place of gathering. Thus, I am constantly reminded of this precious gift we are given. Quite central, it comes into my view often. How lucky we are to be in this particular “home”, how lucky we are for our souls are abiding within us, our eternal home. I live with gratitude, that we all live under the sun and the moon, the rays of light that does not dispel the darkness, but sometimes shines onto the darker shadowy corners and deeper pits hidden under the layers – light and darkness; happiness and grief … yes, joy and sorrow; health and disease; laughter and tears, or is it anger, sweet and bitter – polar opposites and all the subtle range in-between that are the undeniable human experiences. Through acceptance, learning to know that opposites are actually complementary and finding to calibrate that homeostasis in the middle.

This unpretentious painting sends a powerful message to me. It’s pure; it’s innocent and honest like children are. Thank you for leaving behind such beauty Amaey, the brave soul who faced death squarely so early in life with …hope and faith. I know you didn’t even think in such terms when engaged and focused in doing what you loved doing – all the while there might have been dread, fear, sadness … a longing for normalcy by “going home”. Just painting, creating, expressing in the moment; never thinking past that. Living in the present.

More often than not, we learn our profound teachings of resilience from our youngest teachers.

The Dynamic Duo …

Too cool for words… discovered this on UTUBE – I love Life on Mars by Bowie. Not on Mars, but on this Earth, everyone dear to you dies. And that’s called life.
No one clearly knows how much “time” one has; so as the cliche goes, live your life distinctively for self and others.
Distinctively does not mean with fame and fortune but with … ??? Yoga helps with that answer, I think.

BTW, recognizing only Ziggy can pull off wearing a ‘mint green’ suit (& yes, that tie) in style.
That’s it! He has a distinctive style like no other.
Now he’s hanging with Freddie up there, once again, in eternal style, no doubt.

There are hardened competitive people who see others in the same field or business with a sense of fear – Easily threatened, these people approach interactions with the “other” with a sense of rivalry. Masked as strive for excellence, everything can turn into a contest, a competition with the mindset of scarcity and insecurity. That kind of people tend to see things in the finite and tends to set a lot of limits and feel the need to control. Securing power is the primary source of security for them – the energy is that of a burn-out or maxed out, very limited and limiting.

Then, there are the more open minded people who see others with a true sense of gratitude … and sometimes, beyond friendship, with a sense of collaborative spirit – everyone is a possible collaborator. To them, if not a kindred spirit, embracing more of the differences, even, opposites in others, having a yin/yang perspective rather than a win/loss; more/less; right/wrong. With appreciation, another being is seen as a complement, a collaborator. Indeed, collaborations with others come with natural grace as one draws upon the experience to birth and harness more creative energy… It’s more about the more – motto – and so there is growth. There’s that sense of limit-less development, an evolution, with each rebirth process, becoming more complete and whole – the energy is generous and abundant.

Obviously Ziggy and Freddie did not see each other as nemesis nor rivals but rather, collaborators with mutual admiration … That mutual respect comes through while each exudes a sense of clear identity and style – each with a sense of security in knowing that there’s nothing to fear in sharing the stage; sharing the limelight … There’s sense of experimentation and just this incredible duo energy that’s more than a simple arithmetic of Bowie + (plus) Mercury but surging multiplier effect of Bowie x (times) Mercury, where the answer to such a dynamic formula presented itself as the echo of the … infinite.

David Bowie – Ziggy Stardust … so missed…

At a dog park, my red Shiba meets Ziggy, a black/white dog. They got a long:) So strange … life is strange and full of meaning if you see it as such.

“Changes”

I still don’t know what I was waiting for
And my time was running wild
A million dead-end streets
And every time I thought I’d got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I’ve never caught a glimpse
Of how the others must see the faker
I’m much too fast to take that test

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes
Don’t want to be a richer man
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes
Just gonna have to be a different man
Time may change me
But I can’t trace time

I watch the ripples change their size
But never leave the stream
Of warm impermanence and
So the days float through my eyes
But still the days seem the same
And these children that you spit on
As they try to change their worlds
Are immune to your consultations
They’re quite aware of what they’re going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes
Don’t tell them to grow up and out of it
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes
Where’s your shame
You’ve left us up to our necks in it
Time may change me
But you can’t trace time

Strange fascination, fascinating me
Changes are taking the pace
I’m going through

Ch-ch-ch-ch-Changes
(Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes
Oh, look out you rock ‘n rollers
Ch-ch-ch-ch-changes
(Turn and face the strange)
Ch-ch-changes
Pretty soon now you’re gonna get older
Time may change me
But I can’t trace time
I said that time may change me
But I can’t trace time
