I AM AI

It’s like being in a spaceship here … workspace is so open, expansive and light but there are also some cozy nooks and crannies for … “deep learning”.

Well …. so … where’s the fitness center?  So impressed with the dining area which takes into consideration all kinds of diet under the sun from omnivores to vegetarian and vegan then nationally from sushi to tacos  – okay – then – SO, where’s the fitness center or at the very least, that zen room the yoga room? Isn’t the practice of mindfulness one of the best practices for the high level tech workers to ease tension while relieving stress by way of strategic connective tissues stretching and muscles and joints strengthening?  All this, while clearing the mind for better focus and deeper thinking so needed throughout the day.

I am I am I am …???  Adjusting the vision from sunny outside to be inside this architectural marvel of a structure …

Entrance into an open space

with public art, encapsulating the company vision

Churros on woodsy plate … logs of churros with lots of cinnamon !

Pyramid staircase – up up to the light filled airy space

Konbucha on tap !

His & Hers “I am AI” – I love this Silicon Valley company !

AI = Artificial Intelligence

or

AI = Authentic Intelligence

or by intent or by accident, no pun intended? But AI is ai

AI = 愛 = あい = LOVE

So

Really questioning who are you:?

You are Love.

Then questioning –

Who or what Am I ?

I am Love.

I am AI …

Love it !  The message is clear.

“AI is a healer, AI is a protector, AI is a guardian, AI is a Visionary ”

inspired to be

in this breathtakingly beautiful space … it’s Silicon Valley here.

Culture shock

Why the practice of Ahimsa (non-violence) and Satya (truthfulness) resonates. Superb presentation by Niroga senior faculty who has even taught at San Quentin prison system – my jaws dropping with utter awe …and now dealing with mixed feelings. Those who take it upon themselves to teach yoga to this underserved population are heroes.

Part of the program for the Yoga for Youth module dealt with … something really big and what small ways one can make a difference – such as in signing up for Yoga Corps (as in Peace Corps) to bring about Transformational Life Skills and Dynamic Mindfulness (basically yoga but in non-yoga speak) practice in snippets to some young people who stands to gain from such skills to better regulate emotions (of anger and fear) and deal with life’s curve balls by scaffolding need for resilience , teaching them to be non-reactionary but empathetic, more compassionate beings of non-violence. Quite a tall order but … they are doing it.

I have to be honest – my skin is too thin and seeing these disturbing facts made me want to go jump on that flight back to Japan … but I know, there are many facets of America and yes, there’s a lot of white privilege blind spots (and the opposite was the sense of guilt among the privileged …some feeling physical ill even) but at the same time, there are many beautiful generous souls who are here to do good. America is complex and full of issues but … it’s also beautiful and filled with beautiful people.

It is time, though that it may do some good to not be in your own little parochial mindset of a “bubble” and reconnect with the rest of the world while cleaning house.  Yes, I have come back to a bit of a mess that needs some work – and work starts from within first. Mess happens when one is absent for a period of time  …

Being present on and off the mat is my intention this week.  Back to teaching and subbing (thank you to those who covered for me while in Asia).

Hope to meetup in the confluence of our existence as I begin my work again.

Anthony Bourdain – RIP

Just read this:

Chef Anthony Bourdain favorite destination is Japan. He has toured 80 countries over the course of 15 years, delving into their histories and eating as much of their food as possible.

“Japan is endlessly, endlessly interesting to me,” Anthony Bourdain said. And even after going on nine filming trips there, “I don’t think I’ve even scratched the surface and I don’t think I ever will.” He’s especially in love with Tokyo and the Sushi culture.

“If I had to eat only in one city for the rest of my life, Tokyo would be it,” Anthony Bourdain wrote for CNN in 2013 on his Parts Unknown blog. “Most chefs I know would agree with me. For those with restless, curious minds, fascinated by layer upon layer of things, flavors, tastes and customs which we will never fully be able to understand, Tokyo is deliciously unknowable.”

“It’s that densely packed, impenetrable layer cake of the strange, wonderful and awful that thrills,” he added. “It’s mesmerizing. Intimidating. Disorienting. Upsetting. Poignant. And yes, beautiful.”

*** I was in Tsukiji a lot last 2 weeks and I would have to agree.  There’s so much joy to all things food related there not in a glutenous way as you see very few overweight people – Thank you – Arigato – Anthony Bourdain. You are so missed !
