It will be still a longer time

“If you live to be a hundred, I hope I live to be a hundred minus one day, so that I never have to live a day without you.” -Winnie the Pooh

For a friend who is caring for her mom in hospice … can’t expose the vulnerable population so just dropping off some lavendar praying, reciting what I learned from Yoga Philosophy that helps at times like this … to overcome fear of disease, loss …all suffering…

“Great Death-conquering Mantra”), also known as the Tryambakam Mantra, is a verse of the Rigveda (RV 7.59.12) – wikipedia – is one of the oldest texts from the Vedas.

***

Om Try-Ambakam Yajaamahe
Sugandhim Pusstti-Vardhanam
Urvaarukam-Iva Bandhanaan
Mrtyor-Mukssiiya Maa-Amrtaat

Meaning:
1: Om (primodial HUM of the Creation of Consciousness), We Worship the Tryambaka (the Three-Eyed One, referring to Goddess and Mother),
2: Who is Fragrant (giver of Life, a Spiritual Essence), Increasing the Nourishment (of our Spiritual Core);
3: From these many Bondages (of Samsara- cycle of death and re-birth- fear of death) similar to Cucumbers (tied by creepers and vines to describe being enslaved to bondages and servitude),
4: May I be Liberted from Death (Attachment to Perishable Things), So that I am not separated from the perception of Immortality.

Clearing the mind and focusing on what’s most important to you in this lifetime … meditation practice as well as mindful (vs. mindless) movement drills are so helpful.

Full Moon Weekend

Zoom fatigued with migraine headache or not, who would pass this up?

Making Gnocchi from scratch ! Invited to a Fundraising event for “Fund Her” www.fundher.org (Please learn about them:)
As recommended, pairing with light Merlot (actually most dry whites match quite nicely and if red, Syrah was also recommended) – first time ever learning and making Gnocchi from scratch – Tat-taaaa a “Lemon Ricotta Gnocchi with Truffle & Brown Butter Sage Sauce” – proceeds from the fundraiser goes to FundHer, a political action commmittee which supports progressive woman running as political candidates – a cause that resonates with me/us; and part of the proceeds goes to give a meal to an essential healthcare worker as well ! What a creative group of women in our community – Thank you A:) When there’s so many depressing news; there’s even a sense of feeling of guilt in doing something fun – where there is so much suffering in this world. Yet, I think it’s best to keep up our heart OPEN with joyful event like this so that you yourself is not depleted and darkened like soot, burned out. Spark of joy needed for strength and resiliancy.
A Kind and generous hearted friend brought all these veggies over – including the green/golden hybrid squash, so unique, harvested from her garden. Just astounded with the rainbow of colors, her warm heart just as bright, and … thankful to the farmworkers bringing these to us in spite of the smoke and Covid.

Wondering what I can do to show my gratitude in return…

Smokin’ Yoga Therapy

Apparently like many of us, woke up very early with a violent headache – could it be a carry-over from my concussion injury in the Sierras – or is it the fact that our eyes are tired and strained beyond limit from being glued to the screens. Or is it that now, with such poor air quality, we cannot see the sunrise, the sky so murky grey… gone are the outlines of redwood trees few houses down … We are engulfed in thin smoke … Closing our windows and avoiding the outdoors, head pain and stiffness of the body worsens as every cell of our body craves fresh delicious air, our 5th chakra so impacted. This is when I am grateful for all that I know and share from yoga therapy advance practice – individualized home practice. It’s working. My headache is gone. I would love to share one of MANY techniques or lifestyle choices with you ! If any resonates with you, please, incorporate in your toolbox of ways to cope.

It seems like common sense but with children, it may not be ingrained in them yet. If so, please teach and practice Yogic Breathing. On the inhale – Nostril – only Nostril.

Yoga to the Rescue; Yoga for Resiliancy

***inhale count of 3; hold count of 2; exhale count of 6; then work up to 4:2:8 sit quietly follow the flow of breath… any time if you feel your breathing pattern strain in any way, stop.

Reciting together in spirit – may there be healing… cooling of the fires; cooling of the burns and ashes:

Om Asato Maa Sad-Gamaya

Tamaso Maa Jyoti-Gamaya

Mrtyor- Maa Amartam Gamaya

Om Shantih Shantih Shantih

Lead me from the unreal to the real
Lead from the darkness to the light
Lead me from death to immortality
Let there be peace, peace, peace

Let the sound of MMMMMMMM reberbrate in every cells of your brain, and flush out the body of the unwanted impurities and heat. Repeat.

Next … a protocol of movements that flow to get us into that ZONE. That zone of unwavering resiliancy. That zone where we celebrate being … of lightness. That zone of …

Grace.
