The most powerful catalyst for change is the death of the ego – that moment when identity means nothing and joy means everything.

– Lorien Neargarder

Yoga instructor in South Bay who works with cancer patients, their family and caretakers.  I know she is to be of kindred spirit.  Instead of turning away, some people will reach out to those who suffer because the need is greater and the value of service that much more worthwhile.  She embodies the true meaning of the word, “compassion”.

I learn something about myself good and bad through teaching.  Thank you student who asked for my entire playlist from my iPod… you saw my discomfort.  Now I learned to let go in acceptance.  My mirror said – “You are the teacher ! Your job is to share.”  Exactly. Why the hesitation?  The ego.  The attachment.

I was so attached to those music and I would not have minded hearing them over and over as sometimes my mind tend to do (i.e. “iStuck”).  Taking it to ad nauseam with my obsessive nature… I do not, however, own that “music”. When I shared the playlist you insisted on having, I was able to let go.  It’s easy to tell others to “let go” but when it comes to yourself, it’s a challenge – so my class is basically the kind of class I want to attend.  I should attend my own class… and this student allowed me to look into NEW music and I now created a NEW playlist ready to share.  Maybe I will even mix the new with the old.  Who knows.  I am blessed to have a student love the music I love. And thanks to her pushing my back, I now created a new playlist.  If it were not for her, I would have been stuck. It would have been ages before I created anything new.

People are like stained – glass windows. They sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in, their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light from within.

Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

Lovely souls at class tonight… Namaste.
