Yoga & Telomeres

Here’s the fact …

& for those who tried once and did not work – it’s like this. Just like there are different styles and brands of fashion or schools of fashion, there are different brands and styles of yoga … so if one class does not work, try another until you find a good match. Or mix- and -match as our mood and physical condition changes, for some, from day to day depending on our age, the season, stress level, and many other variables. All changeable in this impermanent world.

Material possessions, fame, feelings … change or change people but things that money cannot buy other than time that does not change are such things like … integrity, truth, authenticity … or so I like to believe.

It’s manifested through your practice.

Restorative Practice in Vancouver

IMG_0055_small In the downtown concrete but a very earthy studio…

IMG_0067_smallLove the lantern lighting…so soft and illuminating.

IMG_0065_small& props, props, props:)

IMG_0079_smallNot the usual Restorative yoga associated with adult nap – a little misunderstanding but – whatever you need and whatever works to bring hardware/software “restoration” – it’s really more about yoga therapeutics, then freedom, then … chill out. Now Being a teacher, I really enjoy Being a student – to let another take the lead as a guide – phew, what a relief – AND I always gain new insights attending other teachers’ classes – it’s inspiring and educational to learn from another peer. There’s a fixed rigid idea or a formula as to what “restorative yoga” is as a style and while respecting the teachings, there’s much to be gained from being more creative. Sunday morning at 10:30 am; the larger studio room is packed with over 50 students, all seeking “restoration”.

IMG_0087_small Ganesha is a remover of obstacles. I am not Hindu and pretty sure not many who practice yoga in the West is – since yoga is NOT religion but love the stories of the deity in their system. It’s so … human. The temple alter is within.

Nothing is Something

It’s … in other words… something.
IMG_9966_smallIMG_9943_small
Perfect way to induce anxieties and panic attacks? hahaha. Without numbing the senses but rather by enlivening the senses …you might find deep relaxation. But since I did not try this I do not have a Pro or a Con but sounded so interesting as we passed by this salon on the street in Vancouver. Some may need non-impact floating feeling … but I don’t know… you need some “stress” for new bone regeneration. Some physical stress is actually … good. Gravity keeps us grounded and secure. For me, going into a tank seems … a bit … scary? Probably great for those who just cannot “float” and let go naturally due to various limitations.

What’s the attraction to empty void or “nothingness”?
I know the feeling – it’s probably like when you go under water and let your hair loose and just float to feel the cool water run through the hair and wet your scalp…The sensation penetrates to bring about sense of relief… and freedom.
It’s something.

If we did not suffer from pain or discomfort, wonder how we would treat each other. I thought about this as I talked to a lady I just met who suffers from her ears ringing – sounds like a prescription for madness but it’s physiological and it’s not actually uncommon. What’s the cure? How do you heal from such discomfort? I could see how she was willing to try just about anything and … I pray that it works. Or some people just live with it – whatever condition that makes one feel entrapped or stuck.

Body-Mind-Spirit are all connected so when her body is relieved from such nuisance, looming as stress, her mind will clear and her spirit will soar, uplifted.
