Birthday Party during Covid?

Last month a wedding (which I missed) and yesterday’s birthday party – grateful for the vaccine which allowed for the gathering to take place … it’s been sooooo long. Still the precautions were taken – gathering in outside and many wearing masks – thank you for caring about others:)

We could resume some semblence of normalcy if we all acted responsibly and did our part. Vaccine is for public health – no one likes needles and everyone shares the fears of the unkown. Better informed by trusted sources of medical and science based facts. We can discern facts and truths from the false claims by the fear mongers who take delight in one’s ignorance – yeah, you’ve got your freedom. You’ve got your freedom to place yourself above all others I guess – then – rush into ICU to be cared by those who sacrificed for the sake of others, knowing full well that a little bite out of personal freedom is the price we pay for life liberty and justice for all – As responsible earth-being, we make our small sacrifices and think about the community as a whole at times of crises, don’t we?

Chocolate bar as … Art

Chocolates cookies pies … still lost 10lbs – how’s that? Mix in a little uncertainties and Covid stress for the survival diet.

SF is not setting a low bar – far from it. Indoor dining will require proof of vaccination starting soon – finally a sign of sanity amidst the madness.

It’s come to this !?

So it’s my third appointment with an acupuncture doctor. There’s a little rapport we could build, feeling that she’s not as soft and fuzzy as before- seems she’s hardened in her tone of voice and manners since our last meeting so I’m curious.

I ask “How are YOU doing?” Normally I suppose a patient is not the one to ask the doctor. But. Here’s the reply…she quips:

I consider myself LUCKY I haven’t LOST anyone yet !

It’s come to this. It’s like wartime stories we’ve learned in history books we prayed we’d never experience in our lifetime.

Almost a year and a half since the first shelter in place announced, we now consider ourselves lucky if anyone in our immediate family hasn’t lost his/her life in this battle against the pandemic.

We can overcome this predicament if we all do our part and do what’s most responsible. It serves no one when unwilling to read and hear and truly study the facts, some adamantly digging one’s heels, blindly advocating personal freedom and unjust big pharmaceutical’s profits etc. Those points – are just a distraction to the bigger problem and distracts from tending to the real and immediate threat to solve the huge public health challenge at hand. We need a United front against this public health menace and enemy that looms over us daily.
