In fact, some grown adults still confuse the definition of love as has Midori:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cI guess I\u2019ve been waiting so long I\u2019m looking for perfection. That makes it tough.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWaiting for the perfect love?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo, even I know better than that. I\u2019m looking for selfishness. Perfect selfishness. <\/p>\n<p>Like, say I tell you I want to eat strawberry shortcake. And you stop everything you\u2019re doing and run out and buy it for me. And you come back out of breath and get down on your knees and hold this strawberry shortcake out to me. <\/p>\n<p>And I say I don\u2019t want it anymore and throw it out the window. That\u2019s what I\u2019m looking for.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m not sure that has anything to do with love,\u201d I said with some amazement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt does,\u201d she said. \u201cYou just don\u2019t know it. There are time in a girl\u2019s life when things like that are incredibly important.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThings like throwing strawberry shortcake out the window?\u201d<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cExactly. And when I do it, I want the man to apologize to me. \u201cNow I see, Midori. What a fool I have been! I should have known that you would lose your desire for strawberry shortcake. I have all the intelligence and sensitivity of a piece of donkey shit. To make it up to you, I\u2019ll go out and buy you something else. What would you like? Chocolate Mousse? Cheesecake?\u201d<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\n\u201cSo then what?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo then I\u2019d give him all the love he deserves for what he\u2019s done.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSounds crazy to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, to me, that\u2019s what love is\u2026\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u2015 Haruki Murakami, Norwegian Wood<\/p>\n<p>I think this passage got my attention only because I have sworn off sugar for this month &#8211; strawberry shortcake, chocolate mousse, cheesecake?  ahhhh&#8230; off-limit foods&#8230;Tapas for the month&#8230; it&#8217;s hard to give up sweets. But having come back from Tokyo, I have decided to offset the indulges &#8211; my mother has sweet tooth.
