{"id":1951,"date":"2014-02-17T16:19:35","date_gmt":"2014-02-18T00:19:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wagayoga.com\/blog\/?p=1951"},"modified":"2014-02-21T08:59:34","modified_gmt":"2014-02-21T16:59:34","slug":"because","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wagayoga.com\/blog\/yoga\/because\/","title":{"rendered":"because&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Yoga to me is a RITUAL of ultimate self-care.<\/p>\n<p>To me, it&#8217;s not about o<b>ne-upmanship at a contest on who&#8217;s the strongest or the most flexible or holds the longest Ujjayi (&#8220;victorious&#8221; ) breath.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&amp; why do I teach?<\/p>\n<p>Because I want to share this special ritual with those on &#8220;this&#8221; journey of self-discovery.<\/p>\n<p>In fact, I do not really teach&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>I see myself as more of a \u00a0&#8220;guide&#8221;, an enthusiastic travel companion dashing ahead. That waggy tail going on instinct, who got so enthralled, just zoomed way past you trekking that unknown terrain ahead; then going &#8211; wait a minute!? &#8211; then, coming back to fetch you and guide you safely to this especially blissful vantage point.<\/p>\n<p>A bit dog-like you might say&#8230; dashing after that stick &#8211; that ball &#8211; hunting with exuberance of a hungry young coyote, charging ahead hunting down &#8230; that&#8230;what? \u00a0You know, sometimes you get so passionate about something (a stick for a dog &#8211; woof, woof:) for me in this case, yoga:), you forget and rush towards it, pursuing it with vengeance, venturing further and further towards that destination (if there ever is one)&#8230; only then to come to my senses to realize that &#8230;ouuu, how\u00a0I miss that friend I left behind on the trail.<\/p>\n<p>This trail can be a treacherous but a beautiful journey. \u00a0A dog at heart, never been any good at being a lone wolf &#8211; \u00a0so I have come back for you knowing what I know, wagging my tail, with a smile on my face, panting (dog pose in asana, dog breath in pranayama!) and inviting you to follow. C&#8217;Mon! \u00a0I just returned on this trail to guide you to the next watering hole, along the way enjoying the view. \u00a0As in a cliche, \u00a0let me lead you, \u00a0smelling the roses&#8230;together.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s not a secret &#8211; It&#8217;s not just for me. \u00a0I want to share with the entire tribe &#8211; \u00a0I know where to stop and refill the water, I know where you can find comfortable lodging &#8211; and I know a lovely place along the way to refuel with scrumptious nutrients &#8211; \u00a0let me lead you the way. Let me take you \u00a0to those lovely &#8220;power&#8221; spots. \u00a0It&#8217;s an even more beautiful journey when shared with friends.
