Today

Today, we honor Martin Luther King, Jr. – an activist, who with civil and peaceful means, fought for civil rights and justice for all. In yoga definition, he’s an authentic Karma Yogi – Dr. King took action to peacefully fight for justice, never stooping low by resorting to hate or violence in spite of many injustices and inhumane treatment he (Dr. King assasinated 4/4/1968 – shame) and his movement endured.

There are many things wrong right now but I am happy that at the very least, we are doing something right in honoring him and his movement, with today’s holiday dedicated to rememberance of this peaceful soldier of peace and justice. This way, every child will learn about him in schools、and that’s a cause for Hope. Today, as we celebrate this working holiday, it’s a reminder that people today are still fighting and struggling about the same issues and true resolution and co-existance and harmony has not emerged – YET. Rather, the current Pandemic has brought on the old chasms and bruises and hurt on still unhealed wounds.

Many today, due to the public crisis may not be (wisely) out of the streets protesting but the sense of pride and honor we feel for this Amercian hero is felt deeply. “I have a dream”, his famous speech, still relevant today 2021 as it was in 1963.

It’s a good day to have a conversation, a dialogue with all people whatever differences in views and opinions we hold, we do have a common goal don’t we? To put this Pandemic behind us and have a world that’s in alignment with our true values of justice, merit-based equality, liberty and community health and prosperity – our goal, I don’t think is to destroy those who you do not agree with but really share the truth and learn from history and advance, together. I really don’t think one group of people can have 99.9% of resources and opportunities and rest imporvished and call it a harmony and peace… that’s the injustice. Or what you hear where top 3% of Americans own vast majority of wealth – how is that sustainable? How does the 97% put up with it? By having the truth be shrouded and confused, their emotions manipulated and reactive – losing sight of our common shared community ethos. Praying for health and wellness in all facets of our lives this new year – pray pray pray … and act even in a small way … that makes a positive difference to somebody small scale is good – no matter how small, even just a drop, each act of kindness and awarenss – they have a rippling affect to create a wave of positive change to be in that flow of light at this time of darkness.

Today, I am filled with gratitude for those who fought the fight for us like MLK, like RBG, like Fred Korematsu, like … luckily there are so many to name ; for those, in spite of the holiday is working today as a front-line healthcare workers and essential workers to keep us safe and well. And those, not afraid to speak up and stand up for justice and fair play.

Joy to your body, heart, soul and allows your mind to settle all the debris to the bottom of the lake, ripples gently subsides so that like that shining water, your lake in your mind is still and crystal clear. 帰国子女としてニューヨーク、テヘラン、カリフォルニアと転々、いずれ東京に帰る意識で日本語高等部卒大卒後シリコンバレーにとどまる。ヨガはカリフォルニア州立、バークレー大学時代、ストレス解消に効くと教授に教わり試してみるが... 合わずジャズサイズ、ウェイトトレーニング、エアロビックスのクラスに移転の20代、30代、産後、過労で体調を崩し大病も治癒。死ぬかと思った~大病後、久しぶりに足を踏み入れたヨガスタジオのヨガが大学時代のスローでポーズごと器械体操ごとく、つまらなーいヨガとはまったく違い進化していた。流れる踊りの振り付け的なヨガに魅せられる。数々の流派があることを習い、数種類のスタイルを試す。ビクラム、ホット、アイヤンガー、ヴィンヤサ、アシュタンガ・パワー、などなど。数年前サンフランシスコにて、ヨガアライアンス認定インストラクター養成を経て、インストラクター証書習得。同じ年にキッズヨガインストラクター証書ゲット。リストラテイブヨガ、インストラクター認定、陰ヨガのインターン、アシスト後、陰とヴィンヤサ、レギュラーハタクラスを教える。又プライベート、セミプライベートレッスンをクライアントのニーズの合わせ、ヨガセラピストとしてセラピー集中ヨガ提供。その為に2年間のアドバンスコースに挑みc-IAYT証書習得!ヨガ療法士としてIAYT(国際ヨガセラピスト協会)認定のヨガセラピスト、C-IAYT(Certified-IAYT) 10年以上、ベイクラブ、ヨガスタジオ、シリコンバレー社などで子育て中週4-5回レギュラーレッスンの講師を務める。3月2020にあの頃は最後とは知らずの週2教えていたスタジオにてのインパーソンヨガクラスを後に…遠方介護ニーズとコロナ禍を機に当分はパブリッククラスリードからはリタイア。
自分自身が心と体の調和で得た平穏…日常の小ちゃな事に見出す喜びをヨガ愛好者のどなたとでもと共有できたらと願うばかり。ジョイを共有し、ジョイフルライフを。そう、もし犬に例えるのであれば、恐れや威嚇で吠えまくる犬ではなく、シッポふりふり笑顔で愛と喜びに満ちた心持をヨガを通しシャア。恥じる気持ち等恐れず誰でもできる自身ジョイフルヨガを肝に銘じりたい。LOVE LOVE LOVE:)Shanti Shanti Shanti:)
